  • New Feature: Future Posting

We know some of you wanted to write posts and have them appear publicly at a certain date and time. Thanks to Janet and Ayça, you can do that now!

Adding a future post is easy; just open your editor and check for the “edit” link in the “time” field.

If you want to set your post’s timestamp as a different time, click “Edit” – you’ll see the time change into an editable format.

Now choose the date you want and you are done!

After you save your changes, you will see your future post at the top of your weblog.

More info on how future posting works:

    • Only you will see your future posts when you are signed into
      Xanga.
    • User tags will not send emails for future posts.
    • Future posts will not show up on tag pages or on blogrings until the time
      comes.

    • Weblogs can be posted up to two years in advance.

P.S. With future posting comes the ability to post from an earlier time, too, so you can update your blog from as early as 2000 – just modify the date and you’re good to go.

We want to hear what you think! Let us know if we can help clarify anything about this new feature.

  • This is an awesome feature!  Thanks for continually working hard and giving us such frosting with our xanga!

  • Love this feature!

  • This is great! I’ll definitely be using this feature.

  • future and past posting, eh?

my readers will no longer be impressed by my late-night cleverness.

  • This feature is going to save me so much trouble.  I am always forgetting birthdays and special days like that.  Now, I just have to do it ahead of time and everyone will be happy.  I do not forget to celebrate the special days…..I just forget to create a blog to honor the day.

  • Haha, I just used that an hour before you posted this  I thought it was always there, and I just hadn’t noticed it. Woo~ Cool feature =)

  • That’s really awesome! Thanks!

  • wow……. this is AMAZING!

You guys just improve and improve and this is why I stay with XANGA!

  • I saw this earlier today and I thought it was so cool!

    Thanks Janet and Ayca!

  • Didn’t Google Mail do this as an April Fools joke? I don’t understand why or how this is practical….

  • Interesting, I hadn’t thought of a need for this feature, but I’m sure I’ll use it!
    Thanks!

  • That’s actually a pretty cool feature. +1 for the xanga team!

  • This sounds like it’s going to be a great feature!

  • I like this feature! Thanks

  • @tenigee - Well, it probably won’t be used by everyone, but I know I get ideas for posts in sets of 3 – 5 then put off posting them because I don’t want them all posted at once (only your latest post really gets read). Then when I go back to post them later I’ve lost all the magic from my idea and it just never gets posted. This way you can write whenever you’re inspired and have it come up at the time you want.

Or maybe if you tend to write at 2am when no one is on and want it to show up on the stalker feed when more people will be online checking their subs.

It will be ridiculously useful for some and completely ignored for others.

  • i like the future posting, but the past posting seems like its ruining the magic of the time u posted

  • Future posting good.

    Past-posting, very bad.

  • comment formatting: still very bad.

  • I like this new feature very much. (:

  • I second Homer.  Scheduled posting = good, and something many other blogs allow.

    Past posting = horrible idea.

  • awesome

  • when they are posted, will they appear, stated that they are/were a future post?

  • I would of course give this feature a chance,

Thank you Ayca and Janet for your hard work.

  • This means we can post to Xanga even after we have died…that is a cool distortion of time.

  • Fabulous! I’m not sure I understand ‘past’ posting, but being able to write up posts in advance for holidays or such is very cool.

  • it took me a long time to find this place….

    http://www.narth.com/docs/istheregene.html

  • And as Zeal4living adds, it’s gonna give a whole new meaning to Xanga for LIFE.

  • This is great! Thank you.

  • yay i’m happy that you guys added this feature

except why are the future posts only visible to the user who posted it? because what if i want a “future” post to be at the top for every visitor who visits my site? like a sort of “permanent” post.

it’s a bummer that you can only post it up to 2 years in advance. it would be cooler if it could be like 50 or even 100 years into the future!

  • nice one…
but why the time keep changing itself once i edit my post?

  • @unATTAIN_able - @HomerTheBrave - we were thinking dating weblog entries into the past would be done mostly to edit the existing entries, not for the new ones.

  • Thanks Janet and Ayca!

i agree with the notion of past posting being somewhat of a bad idea. i mean, couldn’t someone steal someone esle’s post idea, and change the time to an earlier date so they could say it was theirs first?? i dunno, i just think the future posting feature is more than enough!

  • It’s such a cool idea, but at the same time is so creepy! I can imagine people using these to fabricate past histories, to to provide alibis…..

Past posting in particular creeps me out. Future posting is cool, though.

  • @sc0516 - hey, thanks for your comment. can you message me and tell me more  about how that happens?

  • Now I don’t need a notepad anymore…thanks!!!!

  • Yaaayy! I have wanted to add older posts from a different blog since I joined Xanga. Now I can!

AND I’m pondering what kind of post I’d want to write two years in advance.

  • @ayca - Like it or not, Xanga is a public record. Allowing people to act as if they said something in 2003 or whenever ruins this aspect.

It’s the same rationale behind only allowing 15 minutes to edit comments. Why place this restriction? In order to keep people honest, that’s why.

  • Awesome!!!!!! =D

  • I love it!  Thanks!  I’ve been wanting to do that.

  • @HomerTheBrave - Personally, I want to move all of my entries from an old blog over to Xanga for a more cohesive journal that I can look through. Past posting allows me to do this.

I understand your point, but I don’t think this is a bad thing overall. Besides, they can’t fabricate past comments on the “old posts” that they’re presenting as evidence for whatever. I’d think that alone would arouse suspicion.

  • Yay!  This is a great feature.  On my Typepad blog, I write all of my posts the day before and schedule them to go public first thing in the morning.  Now, I’ll do it here too.

    Thank you.

  • I knew I made the right choice whan I picked Xanga ! You just keep proving me right; time after time. Good job guys. Keep it up, and thanks.!  The other guys are going to have a tough time playing catchup..

  • I just saw the new feature and was like, huh? Wow, this rocks!   You guys are spoling us rotten.

  • I like the idea of future, or delayed posting a lot. But past posting is a HORRIBLE idea and I really hope you guys turn it off. I would actually leave xanga for this.

  • future posting = clever.  userful.

past posting = me no likey.

  • @GeniusInABottle - You don’t have to use it. I don’t understand why you would leave Xanga for this. Could you tell me more about what bothers you exactly?

  • YES!  YES!  YES!  YES!!!

  • THAT is freaking awesome! It’ll be even cooler when somebody dies, but nobody here will know it becasue they’ve got some many posts ready to go. hahaha! Freaky! You could set up two years of posting (unless you’re Dan) and not touch Xanga again. lol

    Though the past posting seems…unnecessary.

edit: um, I don’t have said edit button by the time. Maybe because I use Firefox, i dunno?

  • @ayca - It destroys a post being on a certain date having any meaning what-so-ever. This might not mean anything to you, but it means everything to a lot of people, myself included.

  • Not sure if it’s a good idea to be able to also post blog entries into the past but whichever. (Though future posting is quite awesome) Can I request that the reset this entry to current time option be put back? (I use it often actually)

  • @ayca - once i’ve click “save changes”, it will run 12 hours later… am i the only one that suffer from this?

  • @GeniusInABottle - Thank you for your feedback. What you guys think about something I spend a lot of time working on is hugely important to me. I’m just trying to understand what bothers you about it.

My thinking was that if the owner of the post wants to change the time stamp to an earlier date/time then it should be OK. If it is important to you or your readers, you would not edit the time in the first place. So, it is good to have the option, even if you don’t use it personally. But maybe I am not thinking  about this the right way.

  • that’s so cool!

  • Of course this is a really GREAT feature!!!

However, I found that the time I set is not consistent with the timezone I choose in my Xanga. Can you fix it?

  • It just keeps getting better and better doesn’t it!

  • I absolutely love this new feature, I have been wanting this to happen ever since I joined Xanga. What can I say, my friends? Another wonderful feature!! =)

  • Ooh, I really like scheduled posting.  I don’t quite get past posting though.  Regardless, it’s nice to see continuous improvement. =)

  • I think this is a fantastic idea – I’ve always wanted a backdating feature…but it’s not showing up on my site. Help!!

  • @ONE_DAVID_S - yes, there will be a future post remark.

  • this is an awesome feature. *bravo*

there’s been many times when i wanted to post an entry at a certain time, but couldn’t because i wasn’t at a computer.

  • like ur new updated site!

  • Finally. Great!

  • So how does time-stamping when you edit work, now?

  • Good Job and nice function out!

I will recommand this to my friends also^”

  • Cool!  I sometimes have series of posts but wanted to mete out only one per day.  So, this new feature will come in very very handy some day for me!  Thanks!!

  • I love it! I’d been wishing we had something like this on Xanga, and now we do!

  • This new feature will save me a lot of time and effort. I don’t actually have to be around to post a blog. That’s pretty cool.

  • This idea never even occurred to me. It rawks! I’ll probably use it!

  • I LOVE YOU XANGA TEAM!!!!!!

  • I gotta give credit where credit is due. This is a great idea.

A++, two thumbs up, 5 stars, etc..

  • @ayca - I totally do not understand how creating a new entry with a past date is somehow related to editing existing entries.

  • Future yes, Past NO…Then too much manipulation could take place. overall it’s a decent idea.

  • I thank this is a GREAT idea.

I write my blogs in advance. I try to post daily.
So now I won’t have to get on my computer to post daily.
I can post in advance. I like that. I can rest at times.

Past posting is a not a good idea.
A lot of things can happen from doing that.
Things can be changed to make like it was posted in the past.
But knowing ahead of time advance what was going to happen.

Old journaling note are ok. But written as it was written without added information.

    God Bless.

    PS
I hope to see a “spell check” when making comments. I like the the editing 15 minutes after comments. I have after thoughts at times when I am commenting. I wonder if I am misspelling words incorrectly. At times I do. Thank God for editing…

  • @sean - What I meant to say was that dating entries into the past would be useful mostly for existing entries as in importing posts from another site. We did not disable dating entries into the past for new posts, so that is possible too.

  • Fantastic!  This is something I’ve been doing on my own, and it sure is nice to have the extra help from you folks!  Kudos on a job well done!

  • This is fantastic!  I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for continuing to make Xanga the best blogging site.

BTW, I also love that rec’s now include if a person’s blog is for friends only.  Sames a lot of time!

  • Genius!

I want to post backwards too.  Well not really, but I would like to be able to choose the date on my blogs so that ‘memory’ blogs, no matter when I might post them, eventually end on my blog in a chronologically-correct manner.  Does that make sense?

  • AWESOME! EXCELLENT!
    THX SO MUCH!

  • It’s a cool way of messing with time.  Kind of controversial, if you really think about it, but it’s still pretty trippy.  Haha, nice going =]

  • That’s kinda neat.

  • this is great! I have been longing for this type of freedom with my posts. I’m the kind of guy who goes and has an idea but wont have time to flesh it out fully and so I’ll write a place holder and set it on private to reveal at a later date… now I can make my place holders in advance

  • This is going to make suicide posts even more haunting!  I love it!

And, as on every post on this blog, I love reading all the hater-comments.  Yay!!

  • that’s so cool!

  • Totally sweet, thanks for the feature :)

  • Wow. That’s so cool.
The past posting isn’t necessary though some could use it.

    Great. Great. ^_^

  • Sounds very cool!  Thank you.

  • i agree with most people here, i’m excited about the new feature! i have a scattered journal spread across three sites and past posting makes it possible to combine all my entries into one place and keep them in order.  thanks so much for all you guys do for us!

  • Interesting concept, I like it!

  • Thank you for all your hard work on Xanga!  It is a cool choice to have to use!  You all keep Xanga fresh with features!  I look forward to your new ideas!

  • This is awesome! I will defintely use the past posting to combine all my older blog sites into my current one here. It will make it so much easier when I want to look back instead of going to my old site all the time.

    Thanks so much!

  • I like the feature. I think I’ll do one later.

  • YES. I’ve been waiting for this feature! Thanks for listening to your consumers and keep up the good work. :D

  • Sounds like fun. (I was in the middle of editing one of my posts when it appeared.. XD)

But still, I’m pretty skeptical.. It’s a fun idea, but it makes the idea of “Now” lose it’s magic. Of course, I can “opt out” by not using it, but other people will use it and.. I don’t know, it gets more and more “unreal”.

Oh well, still fun and creative.

  • YAY! YAY! YAY!

I was just wishing for this… and maybe thinking of switching to somewhere else… but not now!!!! Thanks, y’all!

  • i see no edit in my time field and I believe I’m using the default editor. ><

  • hmm, it seems that you can still backdate entries as well.  there’s a certain ethical question involved with that.  for example, if there is an accusation of plagarism that stems from something posted on xanga, a backdated entry could make things quite confusing.

backdated entries should be denoted as such.  or have a different color timestamp or something.  otherwise, it is ethically-ambiguous.

  • I love this! I like to create all my posts on the weekend when I have time. Previously I have to keep them private and everyday I would just make a new one public. This makes it so much easier. Thanks!

  • I like sheep Because sheep is GOD’s smile

  • I just went to check this out and I didn’t see a time field at all. Do I have to change which editor I use? I currently have it set to Rich Text- alternative version.

  • Past-posting is dishonest and creepy. Future posting is undeniably useful, but I probably won’t be using it.

  • Honor your premium users

Xanga is doing a great job, but I do think that Xanga has to differentiate the services rendered to Basic/Premium users, especially when Premium users paid for better services.

    Proposal

I suggest that Basic users be allowed to do only Future posting, while Premium users be allowed to do both Future and Past posting.  That way is doing business!

  • I don’t like this feature! It allows for liars and for weird untruths!!

  • When I read this, I thought what’s the point?  Just use Private and change it to public and edit the time stamp at a later time.  But I saw some useful things in the comments. I have noticed that when I post multiples, only the most recent get any comments.  Not sure why, but yup, that’s true.

Maybe I will give this a whirl, but I still am confused about the past posting.  I really cannot think of why it would be done.  I still have more coments to read.  Maybe there’s a something to clarify this.

  • @Coveredwithjoy - simply put, just like a diary, you may not have time to write it tonight (say 7 May).  But if you write it tomorrow (8 May), the old Xanga would indicate ”8 May” for your new entry when you actually wanna write things about 7 May.

This feature allows you to write things about 7 May even if you’re in June.

Of course, if you do not care about what date indicated on top of each entry, then you might not be interested in this feature.

  • That is pretty damn cool. :)

  • Being able to post ahead is great. But I think posting from the past is a really bad idea.

  • Whoa!  Have you considered all the implications of messing with the space-time continuum like that?  It can be disastrous!  What if somebody goes back in time and posts something that keeps their father and mother from getting together?

What if my future self just randomly starts editing the parts of my current posts that I will disagree with two years from now?  How will I explain that to my readers when I don’t even understand it myself?

Seriously though, great idea.  It’s cool that we mere mortals can now navigate fluidly through the fourth dimension.

    P. S. Thanks for the True badge.

  • On a less comical note, an ethical problem did present itself (as I thought through the history of the HitchHiker’s Guide Through the Galaxy… it’s complicated.)  What if someone steals somebody else’s writing, and then back-dates it to make it look like they wrote it first?  Is there a way to make it obvious (or at least discoverable upon investigation) that this isn’t the case?

Perhaps a “written on” or “revised on” or “updated on” stamp showing the actual time of composition?  (Or would that defeat the purpose?)

  • i’ve been wanting this for some time now.

this is why i love xanga and continue to blog/post here.

thank you so much for the constant improvements to the site.

  • Cool feature!  Thanks!

  • excellent!!  i’ve wanted a way to do this!

  • I LOVE the idea of being able to write a post and have it go public later on.  That is great!  I know other blog venues have featured the ability to “schedule” a post.

However, I really do NOT like the idea of past posting.  I look at it as a bit of security risk, really.  I like to check folks out who ask for friends status, and this would let someone write their own past history on Xanga and no one would be the wiser.  There’s really no toying with the future posting…you pick a date and time and the post goes live then.  With “past posting” though…..I see trouble there.

Let’s keep the ability to choose a date for post to go public in the future and drop the ability to post into the past.

    Thanks, guys!

  • I’ll come back later and comment. . . .  ~~**IN THE FUTURE!!!**~~

  • i’m not sure if i like the idea of past-posting. but love the future posting.

  • About time. LOL.

  • I don’t like it. now people will be posting at fake times.

  • That’s soooooo awesome! =D

    Much madd love,

    Christian

  • @starve_the_sickness - i agree with the alibi thing – this can be applied to future posting as well: “I was at my computer writing this Xanga post, see?”

But I’m sure most people won’t maliciously use this feature in that way…

  • THANK YOU! This is one of the last complaints I had about Xanga. :)

  • I think that this is an awesome feature :D

  • Neat feature!  The only problem I am having is that I live in AZ and any time I choose is one hour off on the future post.  All other posts and comments indicate the correct AZ time.

  • Woohooo!
    Thanks!
This is something I WOULD Use.
    =P
It’s easier than leaving everything in protected or private and then updating the date stamp on it.
    ^_^
    THANK YOU.

  • About time Xanga!

  • Oh man. This feature really helps. :) Now I don’t have to worry about finishing before I go to sleep.

Down with Myspace! Here comes Xanga.

  • well ya that is cool i am one of them guys that uses the free xanga  but i love it thanks for the great site

  • past posting is not a good idea

  • I have been wanting a feature like this for a while! It’s almost like you read my mind!!!!

  • wow this is … not new to other blogging platforms at all!

    well, better late than never.

  • oh wow.  you guys really bust your chops to give the people what they want!  amazing.  you never cease to amaze me xangans!

  • I used the future posting feature this evening and have encountered a problem.  I “scheduled” the post to go live an hour or so after I wrote it.  While it didn’t go live at Xanga until the scheduled time, Bloglines picked it up right after I posted it.  Since it wasn’t “live” at Xanga, though, folks couldn’t click over to Xanga to comment.  What’s up with that???

  • Awesome awesome sexay feature

  • That’s so cool! I never expected that feature.

  • @ekin - A few more people asked for having both options so we are planning to add “Update to current date and time” checkbox back. Thank you for your feedback.

  • Can you put the ‘post at current time’ because sometimes my xanga is on a different timezone and it makes it hard to change it to post at the right time when I’m editing a post that I made private so I could finish it later?

  • thank you cause i know can blog at night and have it go on as the next day wow i will diffinately use this love shelly

  • I hate it. I hate having to change the time myself instead of simply putting a check mark to UPDATE the time. This is a horrible “new” feature in my mind.

okay possibly horrible to me because I won’t use it and because the simpler check box feature is gone.

But I do understand the thought of future posting because you come up with a few ideas and want them to be spread out in posts. But I already do that. I just keep those posts private and then make them public and update that timestamp.

  • is there a word better than AWESOME??? Well that is the word I would use here.

  • I like the feature but you should still have a update timestamp button.

  • tat’s great

  • Whatever…….if I was writing something and didn’t want it to show up yet, i just hit private until I was ready to make it public. I’m sure other people will find cool….not me. Just another useless thing……

  • Ah. So that’s what happened. Nice. :]

  • i’d love this feature! =)

  • I think this is one of your greatest features ever.
    Go Xanga!

  • This is a very elegant feature. Thank you!

  • Okay, good idea, nice try, but HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE implementation.  You forgot one HUGE thing.

What if I want to work on a blog entry over time, WITHOUT knowing when I’ll finish, and THEN when I’m done, enter it in the “NOW”????

Currently, I have to click edit, and manually set the current time.  This is the worst idea since un-sliced bread.  Compared to just clicking “update time stamp” once and boom, current time.

Luckily, all you need to do is PUT BACK that one button, “update time stamp to current” or something.  So at the very least all I’d have to do would be click “edit time” and then click “set to current time”.  But manually entering the current time, you gotta be kidding me…

(edit)  Okay, see, a bunch of other people want the same thing.  And I think the whole posting in the past thing is no good, as well.  But I can avoid that by simply not using it.  This “update to current time” thing is something you MUST implement!  Thanks in advance.  I do love Xanga! I just don’t want Xanga to turn into Facebook or Myspace…  (ugh)

(edit x2)  …aaaaand, Thank you ayca, for responding and promising to do this!  (What we REALLY need is a way to set it so that all comments appear on one page!  this 25 comments per page means that I skim one or two pages and then post my feelings, without reading the last ~100 comments at all.  If I had known this problem was already going to be solved, I wouldn’t have had to waste electrons (and my time) leaving a comment…

    =Matt=

  • I understand the appeal for future posting…but I can foresee high school-type drama emerging from the past posting.  I can’t really think of a situation where that would be practical.

However, if people want to use it, from an implementation standpoint, posting to past dates is just as easily added as posting to the future, if not more easily, so if you’re going to add one, might as well add both.

  • Let’s do the Time Warp again!

  • This will definitely come in handy.

  • i really dont like the new future posting. it just to much work. I prefer that other way. if to comes down to it i will just delete my date headers

    Sincerely

Stephanie – happy owner of codes_inc

  • i love you xanga team!

  • I agree with Homer too.  I don’t like the idea of past posting…suppose someone was to hack into an account, say of someone who had passed, and edited posts or added things to totally change  the way the person who made the blog wanted.I still sometimes “play” at defending someone who has passed because there are still people “mad” at him, and want to make him look like a bad person, or gay. They haven’t hacked his blog yet( because they don’t know about it) but I’m afraid someone might, or they might one day get into mine

  • Actually will it really come true?

  • THIS IS A TREMENDOUS FEATURE, WHICH WILL DEFINITELY BE A HELP TO SOME OF US (LIKE TEACHERS) WHO HAVE MORE TIME AT SOME SEASONS OF THE YEAR THAN AT OTHER TIMES). T H A N K S!!!

  • This feature’s awesome.

I can quickly type up 3 blogs for the weekend and not touch a damn thing!

  • Why anyone would like to post in the future, for something unrelated to birthdays is beyond me, but good work. XD

  • I thought this new feature was a no-brainer, but it’s tripping me up.  I miss the “Update Time” button.

  • I defintely like the future post thing, I believe that it helps many individuals who post blogs on a daily basis but yet may be gone one day so would like to post ahead but not for it to show up for awhile.

Brillant idea, one thing I like about Xanga is there continuing dedication and notable features that you can see are added. I have used Xanga since back in the old days approx. 2004-2005 when there used to just be the common blogging. I absolutely love the whole new credit system and personally I don’t think Xanga should ever get rid of it. It gives users a reason why they should participate in the community. Plus the whole idea of being able to buy premium doing the surveys is AMAZING. Don’t get rid of it, it’s very smart. Keep up the good work!

  • is there a way to turn off future posting? i’ve noticed a handful of my entries that i want to appear right away, have been automatically been set to publicly appear 2-3 minutes after i actually hit ‘save’. … what the heck?  is this something you guys are doing to not overload the server or something?? i mean, it’s a little past 1am on a tuesday PDT.. how overloaded can the servers be??

this may be a useful feature.. but i find it easier to write all the entries i want.. mark them as private for now.. and then later mark them as public with “update with current time” checkmarked, and it’s tada! in the “future”, from when i had initially written the entry.

  • I think this is a good trick tool but I’d rather post future-dated than past. It won’t be that believable hehe. Future … well, at least I plan to publish that lah! Is there a way to preview your post before you save changes and publish it so you see how it looks in the public preview before actually posting? Dumb question! But it may lead to the right answer hehe. Thanks!

  • I love that idea.  SO many times I have tons of blog ideas running through my head and I can’t post them.  I have had to keep a list elsewhere.  YAY for being able to type them when I want and post when I want without having to worry about spamming people!

  • Blogging from beyond the grave.  I love it.  I’ll do it.

  • ooo very cool! thanks!

  • Awesome!

  • That’s right on, :)

  • I’m not sure if this is int he works or someone has already asked, but are you guys going to add a feature to allow us to rename tags so that after you rename one tag, all existing tags will be renamed as well? That’d be useful. Thanks.

  • That’s AMAZING!!!

  • Awesome feature, I love it! One previous functionality has been removed now, though: the ability to edit a post and update the datetime to current. What I do a lot is draft a post and save as private. Then later I finish the post and save as public, while updating the time to current. Now, to do that I have to carefully fill out the dropdown/textboxes with the current time, which is a minor PITA.

Can we have a button for “Set time to current” when editing posts, like we had before?

  • I was noticing with Skins it shows the future posts. Even if I am signed out, even on a friends computer, why does it show the future post? Anyone know how to fix this?

  • I can see the potential for some legal issues with allowing users to back-date a post. As a writer that scares me to death!  If I post an original work, I can point to the post date as proof that I am the originator.  Suppose someone likes my work so much that they copy and paste it into their own blog then put a date that predates the original.  I have lost my proof.

    It undermines credibilty.

Future posting is great.. do that.. .  but I would seriously suggest making it impossible to back-date.

  • I think the time/date should be based on location of the user. I am from Hawaii and I am 6 hours different from New York…I think it should be set based on the users location. But, it is a great added feature.

  • I was just thinking about requesting this feature! It’s great, I can’t wait to use it.

  • This is an interesting thought. Though the idea of past posting is disconcerting.

  • This is pretty interesting, I’ll have to see how it works.

  • that is tight!!!!! i didn’t notice it before…but now i will! :D

  • I can not see this link on my Xanga? I wanted to use it today but my editor does not show me the link…Please help.

  • This feature only works with the old editor and not with the latest rich text editor…can you make a update please so that it works with both editors.

  • thats SO sweeet, thanks so much. you guys are amaaaaaaazing.

  • did you remove this feature?  It doesn’t show up on my entry page??

  • this is so awesome!! :] thanks to the xanga team for making things easier for us.. that’s totally totally rad.. i hope you come up with more ideas.. if i think of ideas of my own, i promise to share em with you guys.. you  guys are the best!

  • MY FAVORITE FEATURE!!!

  • I really do not like this.  All of my posts are coming up as future posts without me messing with the timestamp and now nothing is posting.

  • That’s a very neat idea. I love you guys :)

  • OMG… extremely helpful feature!!!

  • Nifty! Great add!

  • This is amazing, it can even be used as a reminde rto help someone rememebr a special date, so I can remind my baby about our annivarsary! And I won’t have to remember to say “I love you” Great job! I love it!

  • This is NOT available to me…What dod I need to do to make it available????

  • ooh, i like this!

  • Why doesn’t this work on all the editors????

  • The lack of backdating was the ONLY thing holding me back from becoming a full fledged Xanga user and fan. Now that it’s possible, it completely and totally changes things for me. Thank you so, so very much! I may even make the jump to lifetime member now!

As for people worried about plagiarizing and whatnot due to backdating, I think people are too paranoid. If your writings are that valuable to you, make them friends only or protected and get them copyrighted. Nearly every other blogging site offers backdating and it isn’t a problem because anyone that writes anything valuable knows how to protect what they wrote if they really want to and aren’t lazy.

Besides I am sure it wouldn’t be that hard to make it so that even if backdated, an entry’s actual date/time of creation is still logged somewhere. Totally worth trying to do if it means keeping backdating, because the option for backdating will bring tons of people to Xanga now, that liked it but like me, avoided it solely because of the lack of backdating. :)

  • I LOVE FUTURE POST

    WHEN I  GO TRAVELLING

    XANGA WILL HELP ME!

    GREAT!!!!

  • @HisLadyofVirtue & @meganalissa - go to Settings>Editor [or http://edit.xanga.com/editeditorsetting.aspx and change Edit Mode to Rich Text - default
[mine was on Rich Text - alternative, so I changed it and now it works]

  • how come i can’t do thatttttttttttttt? T-T
the dates are wrong!!!!!!!!!! can’t even post FUTURE time@-@

  • haha wow i never really knew there were so many features i so am gonna use this next time. rock on xanga

Thank you for sharing this article! I really like it! Because of
their relatively low level of writing. After seeing your article, I tried to
write some of this stuff, I published here, such as Coach Outlet, Coach Outlet Canada and Coach Bags Outlet. Those are
just a large blog, here there are some small blog site, also released a number
    of articles. From http://www.usa-coach-bags.com/.
