Updates on the upgraded private page
We’re entering the final stretch of our upgrades to the new private page! The new private pages now support personal search, customization, and a unified look. They also include clean up of the Private Messages, Friends Manager, and Profile Pics interfaces.
A few notes for the final step in the process:- If you are using the “Old Private Home”, nothing will change. You will continue to be able to use your existing private page, with its custom look and feel.
- If you haven’t tried out the upgraded new private page, please try it out here!
Starting next week (July 19th), for users of our current default private page: we are going to start migrating users of our new private page over to the upgraded version. If you would rather stay on the un-upgraded “new private page”, we’ll allow you to downgrade for a period of several weeks until the upgrade is finalized.
We’ll keep cleaning up any issues and/or bug reports that come up. We’re targeting August 1 for making the upgraded new private pages the default! Except of course, for users who prefer the ol’ private pages with custom look and feel. You’ll just stay on that system as is.

Johnps My wife is on Xanga and she swears by the old private home page. So no worries from anyone concerned that we might pull support for that: even if we thought it was a good idea (we don’t), my wife’s continued love of the old private home page means that on a personal level… it will remain as an option.

Phew – good! I’ve always used the old private home page since I started in 2002 – and would HATE it if it changed. Glad to know that you’re keeping it.
Will I need to do anything to keep it as it is?
To be honest – I’m not aware of the new private page etc etc. I haven’t even checked it out. my bad – Why change something that doesn’t need to be fixed.

I love my old private page. I tried the new private page and got so lost. I went right back to my old one. it feels like my security blanket. Please don’t take that away from me.

Would you PLEASE fix notifications? It’s been over a month now since I’ve received any kind of notification by email, I’ve sent multiple emails to Xanga management and the issue is STILL not resolved.

I have already used the new private page to customise my page. I like it a lot. Thank you. I just had a problem accepting a friend request yesterday. The page did not brought up the options so that I can select the pic of the friend to improve. It did work however when I chose the list option. You might already have fixed it but please just check it out…might be a bug.
I have nothing against the new-new private page, but I *really* don’t want to see my last five visitors. *Please* let us customize the page’s modules, if you’re going to force old-new page users to switch. I might wind up going to the old-old private page, just to avoid seeing those footprints.
I loved the new private home beta but I had to disable it because it kept causing me (and many, many other people) problems with accessing our sites. If you guys had some simple way for people to contact you, I’d have sent you the details on it. I think I posted it in a comment somewhere, but it probably got lost in the shuffle. Too bad you’ve chosen not to use the private message feature so we could give you reports on the “beta test.” Hopefully the problem will be fixed when you force-upgrade (oh, I’m sorry, you said “migrate”) us to it.

@spicycajun - I have the same problem! They keep telling me “it should work now”, but it doesn’t, and I STILL don’t get any notifications. I’m about done with Xanga, without notifications it’s not worth my time and effort.
i really like the new private page. itll take a bit to get used to it, but it looks good.

Is the hateful flash advert that is suddenly flashing like a blinding light in the middel of my private page part of the new private page? It is extremely irritating and annoying!!!! When I signed up for premium it was clear that I will not be forced to watch unwanted adverts. If it comes with the new page then I will stay on the old page. I do not want flashing, uninvited ads in my private area where I work…and especially not the one like what is flashing now!! You can not miss it for it is programmed to be right in the middle of my screen.
The new private page is great, it’s just that all the other links that should take you back to it, take you to the old page.
Any chance of fixing the appropriate links so that they go back to the new private page instead of the old one?
I really like the current default home page (which I guess is what you’re calling the un-upgraded new home version). If we don’t like the look of the upgrade, will there be an option to keep the un-upgraded one or will it be gone completely? I know you said we would be able to downgrade for a few weeks before the upgrade is made the default, but when that happens will the downgrade no longer be available?
Can’t say I’m a big fan of the new and improved homepage. Please keep the old one as an option.

Not sure if you’ll get this, or not. I am a paying xanga member. Paying to keep ads off my pages. I am displeased at the ads on my private page that blink and flash trying to get my attention. I pay to not have ads. I don’t want them on my private pages either. NO ADS!!

Hi, it seems that more people need an app for iphone rather than a new private home. I am certainly one of them. Pleaseeeeee make one. I am dying for it, and I am sure many people wants it too. I have used blogger, livejournal, wordpress, and so far xanga is the best! But… It does not have an iphone app!
If there is one, xanga will be so perfect! So please make one!
My homepage was changed to the latest one automatically, I wasn’t given a choice. It’s cool though.
On the feedback portion I don’t like how you can absolutely 0 feedback for pulse comments. The default stats displayed are:

To see stats for the pulse you have to click on any single one of those, which expands the truncated feedback portion to a full view. Pulses are so frequently used that I do not know why it would be neglected. It would be nice to fully customize this portion of our private page. This way we are able to immediately see what is most important to us.
Now that I’ve been switched to it, I really don’t like it a bit. The home page was great the way it was, muc h less of the functionality, especially the “your stuff” link in the left nav bar. Is there some way I can revert back to the old one?

ok but how the heck do I get back to the old private page? I don’t remember having a choice or switching anything over, but I used to be able to click over to the old private page and access the “look and feel” and all of that and now I can’t anymore.
Also, where is the “your stuff” link, specifically, “your comments”? I used this ALL THE TIME. I’m really really hoping it isn’t gone!
umm, why do my photos disappear in photo manager when i point at them, and i can’t do anything with them, have to go to regular photos to edit or copy. Still wishing for the basics to work right, *sigh*
