We've gotten a bunch of requests for an API for applications like
Windows Live Writer and Firefox add-on
ScribeFire, so . . . here they are! Instructions are under the cut.
If you were curious, we used the
MetaWeblog API to make the programs work for Xanga.
Live Writer:

You already have a weblog set up! Choose the second option.

Choose "another weblog service".

Enter http://api.xanga.com/metaweblogapi as your homepage URL and your Xanga login information as your username and password.

Select Metaweblog API and enter the same URL as you did in the last step.

You're set - blog away!
ScribeFire:
Click "Configure Manually".

Choose "MetaWeblog API" from the blog system type menu and enter http://api.xanga.com/metaweblogapi as your URL.

Use your Xanga username and password to log in.

Hit Next, Finish and start blogging.

Excellent. Now I can use Live Writer and it's myriad plugins. I are a happy camper. Now, if only people would read my blogs I'd be in hog's heaven.
I wish i knew what this was
I've never used ScribeFire, but now I want to. ^_^
This is great. Keep up the good work!
Cool. But one question. if we change our user name, will we have to go through this again or will it update automatically?
Great Job!
Hey thanks even though that was auto reply to me making this site.
Anyways
i want you to know i'm going to try my best to make Xanga the new thing

And the advantage of this is?
Xanga isn't just about posting a blog, it's the whole community experience. If I just wanted a blog for the world to see I would go back to Blogger.

@MrMysterious - This is useful if you want to use 3rd party tools to post to Xanga.
