We're working on three fixes here at Xanga HQ:
Fix #1: Commenting or Editing in Internet Explorer - FIX COMPLETE!We got some reports that since last week, some recent versions of Internet Explorer were having trouble commenting on some Xanga posts. We dug into it and were able to identify the bug.
As of this morning, this should now be fixed! Please let us know if it's working again for you!
Fix #2: Signing into the Xanga app, Part 1 - FIX COMPLETE!Some users reported problems signing into the Xanga app. In some cases, this was due to really long passwords.
We rolled a fix for this last week, and so hopefully that's helped with mobile signin!
Fix #3: Signing into the Xanga app, Part 2 - PENDINGSome other users also reported problems signing into the Xanga app. It turns out that these users had certain characters in their passwords that the mobile app wasn't happy with (e.g. ampersands, plusses and question marks).
We will be rolling out a new version of the mobile app within the next week that should fix this up! If you'd rather not wait, you could always reset your password here:

The app isn't compatible with Android 2.2.2 :(
The only problems I've had on the Xanga site are trying to use italics and bold font in the comment editor while using Google Chrome. I haven't had any troubles through IE or Firefox. Most often, the problem is extra line or paragraph breaks before and/or after the italicized or bolded words. Clicking the "Edit HTML" box alone sometimes did the trick, but most of the time I'd have to go in and edit the HTML (usually by removing some &#### code I'm not familiar with).
ALSO!!! Please make the Android app compatible with version 2.1. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S Continuum, and Samsung/Google/Verizon (SOMEONE) decided my phone would be one of the FEW to not receive any OS updates. PLEASE make it compatible!!!
Thank you -- Re: fix #1, commenting seems to be working better today!
@Rhindon - I have the same issues too with bold and italics in Chrome, and paragraph spacing.
Thank you for your hard work...
I am still waiting for a xanga app for blackberry.
If you'd rather not wait, you could always use a less secure password.... and then wonder why your site gets hacked
Nope not fixed and when I use IE to create a new post I get the message " Rick text (WYSIWG) editing unable to run on your current system. Check ok yo switch to plain text editing.
When I press ok I get no fonts at all.I switched from IE to Fire fox and it all works fine with that.Google Chrome and Fire fox works great and has none of the problems of IE.
I tried recommending a post from my phone, but when I went to look at the post again on my computer, it wasn't recommended.
Glad that you are taking care of these problems John. I will go to some of the blogs where I wasn't able to post comment, and see if I can now.
My suggestion to the world would be to stop using Internet Explorer. It's awful.
Thank you for your hard work, Xanga needs to be in the news.
wheres my xanga chat?
@Cestovatelka - @Rhindon - I use Chrome too. I found that for paragraph spacing, I need to hit the "Enter" key 3 times and that works.
@SeeBeeWrite - Seriously! It's so slows and takes forever to boot up!
Chrome > FireFox > IE.
great, now fix the chat box!!! its NOT a chat room when you cant chat. this is a message room :(
This from my pulse today: Strange thing! On my private feed, I keep getting the first page from a few days ago...until I refresh, then I get the current page!!
It won't go away!!! Help!!
i have more probs with ie in tumblr than xanga but have seen some....i just want chat back again...
@musterion99 - @Cestovatelka - When I hit enter, it's supposed to give a double-line space. Shift+Enter gives an immediate line-break. But when I post the comment, all the paragraphs and line breaks get altered. I should add that this isn't just around the font editing, either.
thanks for fixing it
With the front page I know you wanna encourage us to comment more, and reward the ones who help the site grow, but you should set it up in such a way that no one will ever figure it out. It's discouraging when you keep coming across the same person's sites. I'm here to meet new people and not the same one. Nobody likes a dictator, right? I read a bunch of her threats in one of the previous comment sections when you said you were gonna change the front page.
We need variety around here from different people with new ideas and opinions. I feel like I'm reading the same ideas when I read the current front page. Plus, even if the ideas weren't different at least the writing style, or thought process, would change. Enlightenment and inspiration is lacking on the front page and I bet anyone who comes by here quickly leaves after reading the titles and intro paragraph.
Hopefully you guys do what you feel is right for xanga, and not listen to the readers too much. I highly doubt facebook listens to theirs much and look how they're doing! Alot of the things they implemented the readers hated at first but slowly grew to love! Though I think xanga should pursue its own identity.
Btw I'm only talking about xanga. The ish sites are interesting and good reads! I think those were a good idea and that if xanga itself could have better content it would grow and develop quicker. There are good writers here, and around the net, but you need to inspire them with the front page, and pull them in.
Also footprints and subs encourage people not to explore. I don't sub to anyone nor let anyone sub to me for that reason. I'm always out and reading around because I have to! It's the only way I can read! I would read even more if I felt I had more privacy. If you got rid of subs and footprints we could still follow the readers we like by adding them as friends! And without footprints we could click around their pages all we want!
Hehe I dunno... these are my ideas and things that would make me more comfortable here. I fully agree with the recent changes you have proposed over the past several months and hope you implement them! Keep up the hard work!
Hi, I would love it if you guys put an option in the App to have a post show on Facebook also. I would greatly appreciate that feature. Or even something in the account settings that allows all our posts to repost on Facebook. Thank you
Not experiencing any of those issues, but kudos on all the work you guys are doing.
Having similar WYSIWYG errors as outlined above. I haven't switched operating systems (Win 7) or MSIE (v8.0) lately. The WYSIWYG/rich text error has been happening for the past two weeks or so. Can't change font, only font size. I also posted this in the Xanga help forum.
