  • New feature: Comment Replies on Pulse

    We know some of you pulse more than you post and receive more comments on your pulses than posts. Many of you asked, "Can we have auto reply on pulses?"

    You guys asked for it so Joe made it happen- comment reply on pulse!!

    From now on you'll see a reply link next to (messages) on all pulse comments.

  • The minis are so cute. Thanks for the pulse reply, and replies in general, I love the ability to interact more.

  • I REALLY wish you would give us something else to spend our credits on aside from these minis. Most of them are senseless and dull. Why not let us trade in credits for gift certificates to Amazon so that we can recommend more books, music, or videos? (As a sideline here, I wish that there was place, when telling readers what we're reading, watching, or listening to, to tell them why we would recommend it.)

    Or allow us to gift our credits to bloggers who are trying to save up enough to get that elusive free premium. Frankly, I'm kind of insulted about the free premium thing since I paid for mine. But oh well. And since I rarely if ever use the minis, my credits are kind of useless. So I'd like to do Something with them other than acrue them.

    It would also be nice if people who left a paragraph or two as a comment would get More credits than some slacker who posts something like "I agree" or "great post." And that people would continue to get credits for every comment they left so long as the conversation continued. I try to make posts that foster interaction, so I'd like my commentors to be rewarded for it. If nothing else, I'd like to allocate portions of my credits to people who carrying on the topic in the comments.

    It's just infuriating to me to have these credits and have nothing to do with them.

  • OK...how about me!?!?  Could you make it so my viewers can navigate from one page to the next (and previous) with keystrokes instead of mouse clicks?  Huh..Huh?  Could you do that?  If you do I'll try to figure out some way to give you millions and millions of eProps.  I not above eProps stuffing when it comes to making my site all it can be (in between wrecking by being too adventurous).

    Aside from that, I've never really used Pulses... probably might utilize them for days when my entry is going to be late or whatever other reason...

  • This is one of the things I truly don't understand about Xanga. See, to me, it seems natural that posts and pulses and whatever else would all fall under the same umbrella. That replies to anything would act like replies to anything else. So, uhm... yay?

Sometimes it even decides to stay long after I've moved my mouse and obstructs the whole page. Please tell me there's a way. I'm at the end of my tether with this.

    And also... I see it now says that we can return to the old private page "for now" when we're redirected to that awfully plain new start page you've all laid in [we spend a lot of time making layouts for our sites only to be set through to that ugly looking page??]. I suppose that means that the rest of xanga's soul is about to be sucked out too?

    I've been a member since 2004 on various sites, almost 4 years, and relished the fact that Xanga does NOT look like livejournal or myspace....Changes are good, yeah, but this last year you've really gone far overboard, Xanga Team.

  • @manilajones - I do not want them to give me money to go shopping at Amazon. I want them to give me a use for my credits, since everyone else has a use for them but me. I think the minis are butt ugly and useless and the points that you must spend to "purchase" one are entirely arbitrary. I gave other alternative uses for the credits aside from the Amazon thing. That was just an IDEA, not a DEMAND. Even an Amazon gift certificate has the potential to earn them money through Amazon affiliation. I'm not demanding they give me anything; I was only making SUGGESTIONS. I even said I'd like the option of giving them away to people trying to earn enough credits for the free premium. I just want more alternative uses for the credits, regardless of what those uses are. I mean, I paid for my premium so I don't even have the option of saving up for something worthwhile.

    So, you're right. I am not entitled to credits. Point of fact, I don't even care about them aside from the fact that I have them. They could take them away and it would be no skin off my nose.

    Now go mock someone else for voicing an opinion, why don't you?

    You assume too much.  I never said that you DEMANDED anything.  I am well aware that you merely SUGGESTED that Xanga give you money so you could shop at Amazon because you have no other uses for Credits.

    Great suggestion.  I really hope they take it seriously.

  • I have just started using pulse, now that I see how they update to other peoples sits, I love it! Thanks for adding the reply button as well, good job! Xanga us getting better and better! One of these days maybe I'll do good enough to get featured! (insert your standard whiny hint here!)

    they build community on xanga and help people express graphically what they might be feeling emotionally.

    it's like eye candy.
    so instead of being just an e-prop whore, u can be a mini-whore too

  • It is a good idea to make "reply" to someone who made comment on the xanga and send a e-mail to the ones who i replied their comment.

    I hope that there are mutilple reply to 2 or more comment soon.

    Feel Free to read:

    1. I think it is good for xanga to make private comment but not only private message on weblog and others module.

    2. I heard that there are so many opinion from xanga user is " They want to keep using look & feel because of the html coding". As we can see that the Themes system can only use CSS to edit the page, i think it would be great if xanga can combine two things^^".

    3. Set a module which is use to count the browse times.

    Time to study!^^" See you next time.

  • @LimeTreeLyrics - when that window pops up, on the upper right-hand corner, there's an icon of a gear. click that - that's your settings menu - and you should be able to opt out of the previews.

    all of the changes to your site have been and will continue to be optional. if you need help switching back from themes to look and feel or from private home to the old private page, i can send you instructions.

    it's really more convenient and powerful than "soul-sucking", believe me.

  • @harmony0stars - There are the "100 Eprop" and "1000 Eprop" minis, which I believe gives the recipient that many eprops/credits.  (I know it costs the giver that many credits.)  And you raise a couple of other interesting points in your comment.  It sounds like it would be a good topic for a post on your own site.

  • @gr8balls - Well I hope I haven't passed more years than I have left...* ha..I just mean some of them are 'childish' to me..I have many friend who are ill or going through hard times...sugreries..even loss...I can't seem to find the right mini for things like that..or 'just thinking of you' ...'in my thoughts'..'hugs'..soemthing like that....'goodnight' and 'good morning' are good but if you comment during the day you can't use those...the 'rose' and 'bouquet' are nice but how many times can you repeat those..'hang in there' I use a lot too..was hoping for some more like that...and some 'have a great day'.types..just an assortment...again..I must be getting old..but not THAT old...:)ha...take care..Lee

  • @harmony0stars - I wholeheartedly agree. The minis are a cute idea but most of them are useless to me. I'd rather be able to use them to get something substantial, something practical and fun. Gift certificates to places would kick ass!

  • It seems to me that pulse comments never end up being timestamped in the proper time zone.

    I have my settings properly set to Pacific time, and all of my journal entries and pulse entries are time stamped properly, but pulse comments are early by three hours.

    I don't know if anyone else is noticing that issue.

  • Why is it that I'm getting double comments on my Pulse? Also, when I replied to someone else's Pulse, I left three of the same (and I only pressed the submit button once)? Can I fix this somehow?

    And how do you get the TRUE badge. I've updated almost every day since August '05 and still haven't gotten it...
