Xanga now on Android!
Xanga's Android App is now avilable for free download from the Android Market!
It's only been two days since we launched Xanga's iPhone and iPad apps, and already Xangans from 24 countries have installed the apps! Thanks for your support, and for the five star reviews!
We're collected a few bug reports, and are working to fix them up in a new iPhone version shortly.
Next up: we'll be releasing a Kindle Fire app.
It's pretty amazing to be able to support so many different devices! A big hat tip goes to PhoneGap, the open-source mobile development framework that let us build mobile apps using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Their support has made it possible for us to build one mobile app that works across multiple platforms. Thanks guys...
We'll consider additional mobile devices, although I should warn you that we've run out of mobile devices that we own and can use for testing. If there are particular devices you'd like to see supported, please let us know in the comments!
In the meantime, we hope you guys enjoy the Xanga Android experience! Let us know what you think...

The switch to mobile is long overdue. This is great news.
YAAYYYY!!!!
The fact that the hovering menus at the top and bottom are there makes it run a little slow...or is it just my phone??
As we have asked again and again (I know I am not the only one) what about blackberry?
Yay! I'm downloading it now and will let you know what I think. Thank you so much!
neat. I just downloaded it and just uploaded a post--with a picture. ha.
@Kristenmomof3 - If there is enough interest, we'll consider additional mobile devices. I touch on this a bit in the post above: "We'll consider additional mobile devices, although I should warn you that we've run out of mobile devices that we own and can use for testing. If there are particular devices you'd like to see supported, please let us know in the comments!"
So far, I've seen two Xangans asking about Blackberry support. Sorry, haven't meant to ignore your request - we've been racing to get the Android app out the door!
I'm super excited for the kindle fire app, too.
I'm guessing you guys didn't have anything running android 3.0+. The app isn't starting up on my Galaxy Nexus running 4.0.3.
Thanks for planning to support the Kindle Fire with an app! I can't wait!
Xanga icon, logo, fantastic (every time I see squares) I think of Xanga.
Fantastic might have to get android or other app device to use Xanga on the go.
@crazy2love - It lags for me a bit, too. Whenever I scroll, the top and bottom bars disappear, then reappear after a second or two after not touching the screen.
congrats. now when are you guys going to turn on xanga chat? and whats with the xanga weblog editor rich text version? i could only use plain text=boring!!!
Yay!!!
cool! i dont have any fancy kind of phone/tablet/ipad, but this is great news for you guys! i want xanga staying around as long as im here to post! this will encourage ppl to use it!
Bout time
Sweet!
Awesome! Gonna check it out right now.
Downloaded it and played with it just long enough to post a photo from my phone gallery. Yay! I've been waiting so long to be able to do that! Well okay, only about a year, but it seems longer. Looking forward to the Kindle Fire app.
I vote for either a Blackberry app or for a Nook app.
I have the app on my Samsung Infuse (Android platform) and it seems to be running well thus far! I love that I can comment from my phone now! For whatever reason...I could not before. I have not had that particular issue with any other site I comment on.
Thanks for adding the app for Android!
HALELUJAH!!!!!!!!
Been using it all afternoon, my only complaint is the floating menu bar at the bottom sometimes sticks but it isn't really bad.
I love the app on my iPad Touch!! Everything is working smoothly. I'm also excited to have one for the Kindle Fire. Thanks team!!!
Yippee.
Your stupid pop-up ads that have no x to close them down are popping up right over the left side module where I access my footprints, comments, etc. In other words, yet again I can't access anything that way from my blog which makes being on Xanga absolutely pointless. Could you please fix that? It's happened before and it's quite annoying.
FINUHLLY!
Thanks! downloading .... now!
Looks good so far. Posted once. Glad android got some love.
@Melissa___Dawn - we don't have pop up ads? Not sure what you're referring to...
Sweet!! I just downloaded the app, I'm still trying to get the hang of it but I love it
login/password isn't working on the Android app
Hi
Only bug bear at the moment, is that when I try and log on, on the app it says: "Website Login required for this account. Please try again after logging in on the website."
Have done this, but it still won't let me log on...
Help please!
finally it works!
Still won't let me log in. =[
I'm liking the app so far but I know I'll continue to use the desktop version of xanga more than half the time.
@Melissa___Dawn - I don't get any pop up ads. :/
I can't login either. It keeps telling me I have a bad username and password combo even though I have entered it carefully about half a dozen times.
@catastrophicpixi - we just rolled an update that might fix your login issue... could you please try again? Thanks.
@TakingxOverxMe - we just rolled an update that might fix your login issue... could you please try again? Thanks.
@marc - It let me login!
@catastrophicpixi - awesome!
blackberry please
Actually, on the private page it's fixed, on the public preview and/or comment page the ad is covering part of the module again so things cannot be accessed. And it's clearly a Xanga ad, it even says right below it something like "want to remove the ads? Go premium!".
I love that this is available for Android instead of having to use the internet browser. I'd give 100 kudos if I could!
Just got an android phone today and happened to find the app. SWEET!
To anyone having login issues on the app, try changing your p/w on the main site and give it another go - worked for me!
app won't install on my phone or tablet. Droid x and galaxy tab
Nice!!! Took ya long enough!!!
It is such a good news, I'm really appreciate it, thanks Xanga team.
There're 2 issues I found from the Xanga App:
1. I can't retrieve the post from PC after I posted from Xanga App
2. No "Protected" from privacy setting, it is only allow "Public" or "Private"
Trusted that you guys are still working on it and looking forward the enhacement version very soon.
Thanks again
Hm, no matter which device I use that runs Android, I get a warning that the app is not compatible with my device, even though it should be based on what the app says the requirements are.
how bout a mobile app for cell phones period?
I just downloaded the iphone app, and so far it looks really good. I'll be doing a blog shortly, but I just wanted to pop over and find out if/when you'll be doing the kindle fire app because that would make blogging on xanga a lot easier than on an iphone, so I'll definitely keep an ear out for that one. Is there any way to be notified about it when it comes out?
Uhm. What the f--k?
... I left a comment/review on the android market with some changes/issues that needed addressed in future updates, and it disappeared/Isn't viewable from the PC side. Bullshit. [unless google is hiding it from me, for some unknown reason].
Would screen captures help illustrate a point when there is a missing/broken feature?
It is possible to subscribe to a blogger within the app, however sending an actual "friend request" must still be done from a web browser (example: Dolphin Browser HD).
Also, after browsing the updates of one blogger, I went to view those of another. The name on top changed, but the updates were still of the first blogger. A few "refresh"-'s fixed the problem, but it was an issue/bug/concern nonetheless.
Overall, there is currently more functionality within a mobile web browser aimed at xanga.com than there is within the app.
What about footprints? What about audio uploads? [and other things that some of us value in our mobile blogging experience]
I can't seem to reply to people when they comment back to me on my posts. Fix?
Totally awesome to see this... Now I just need to get me a Droid again!
It's finally released!!!!!!! I can see xanga via the app now and no need to look so awfully through safari ^^
i have a android, and it said its not compatible with mine, and wont let me download it. this is a brand new android, so idk. .____.
I am enjoying being able to Xanga on my phone, but I would like it even better if the top & bottom bars stayed constant. They disappear when scrolling but reappear when I stop moving the screen.
Is this going to be available for Symbian [nokia phones]? My main concern is Symbian Belle because I just got the nokia 701 and I love it
I'd like to see an app for BlackBerry.
@secks_rules - Which Android model Honeycomb? What device brand?
Its for at&t, and its an android fusion. thats all i know. @PPhilip -

I noticed that private posts are getting views when I wrote them on the app! can eople see it or does it count my views?
How about xanga app for blackberry user
1) What about BlackBerry?!
2) I can't sign in on the Android app. It says "signing in" forever...and ever...and ever...
The app doesn't work. This site doesn't work. No one is letting me know anything which makes me incredibly upset. I pay for premium, I expect to use this site. I expect to be told when there are outages. I expect to be updated. It's not too much to ask. I'm set up for auto renew, paid you more money which you readily took. The way I see it, I deserve to know why I can't access anything without rerouting my IP addy through another country. No the app doesn't work, why would it when nothing else does, and this company remains silent on it. I think I've hit my limit
Seems I can't get it for my Samsung Galaxy Y, here in Croatia.
No Xanga app for BlackBerry????
